Adoption Programs

FOR OVER 100 YEARS, SPENCE-CHAPIN HAS BEEN committed to the idea that all children deserve a permanent home. In that time, we have placed over 20,000 children with loving families.

The adoption landscape is changing. The pool of children in greatest need of adoption has shifted. The barriers between children and parents must be removed. That's why we focus solely on finding permanent homes for older children, siblings, and children with special needs. It's why we have lowered the financial barriers to adoption by providing no-fee adoption services for families who can consider opening up their lives and their hearts to this very special population. And it's why we will continue to guide families with lifelong support and education through our Modern Family Center.

Spence-Chapin promotes equal opportunity for all clients. We do not exclude, deny applicants, or otherwise discriminate on any basis - our policies and practices are intended to ensure that all clients are treated equally.

As you start your adoption journey, know that Spence-Chapin's team of experienced social workers will be there for you to provide guidance, education and emotional support throughout the process.

  • We were becoming parents for the first time in our 40's and felt that older siblings would be a better fit for our lifestyle and our family.

  • There were times that it was really hard, but now they have each other − they're a bridge from the past into the present. I wouldn't change it for the world, because they are so tight and so in love and enthralled with each other.

  • Sometimes there's a little magic sprinkled in there, and you can't explain it, but somehow it all just gels, and it did for us.
